Description

“Code Black offers unusual challenges for makeup because of itā€™s documentary shooting style. Quite often our casualty makeups are covered in blood or shot in low light on the move requiring an abstract coloring technique in order to pop out the details on our work. Ā As I did on my ā€œLost IslandĀ  Collectionā€, I chose a color pallet for ā€œCode Statā€ that could be used specifically for our style of painting. 3 new colors were chosen along with a special pick of Primary, Highlight & Shadow tones to allow for optimum Casualty creations. For me, the Lost Island & Code Stat Collection of colors provide everything I need in just 2 pallets. I wanted to keep it simple for the novice & professional alike. I also limit what I carry to keep my set kit light. Throughout my entire career Iā€™ve relied heavily on out of kit techniques & having an art background I rely heavily on color mixing using Primary & complementary colors. I like to paint quickly with sponges & broad brushstrokes & rely only on my airbrush for special circumstances. Ā My involvement on Code Black arose from my working history with Creator & Executive Producer, Michael Seitzman whom I first met on his series, Intelligence starring Josh Holloway. Josh & I of course worked for 6 seasons on Lost where he spent a lot of time in my makeup chair. Ā Now in season 2 of Code Black, I felt it was time to create a universal coloring pallet as a base for my crew to build on & Code Stat is that pallet. From broad to subtleĀ  coloring, realism is key on Code Black.” –— Steve LaPorte

The Skin Illustrator Code Stat Palette was custom created exclusively for OscarĀ Award winning makeup artist, Steve LaPorte, for use on the CBS hospital drama,Ā Code Black.Ā Ā As makeup Department head for the series entirety, Steve chose this selection of ten Skin Illustrator colors as the best combination to meet his needs, while creating all makeups possible in a hospital setting. Ā Included in this palette are two custom colors, made by Steve, especially Ā for use on this show.

All colors can be applied with a brush, sponge or mascara wand.Ā  As always you can use the colors as-is, or they can be mixed with any other Skin Illustrator colors — allowing you to create your own unique blend of colors, giving you endless possibilities.

You must useĀ Skin Illustrator Activator, Ā Skin Illustrator Slow Activator, Ā or 99% alcohol while activating and using the colors.

Do not use any other solvents. For example 70% alcohol, MEK, acetone or water. These will result improper activation or damage to the product.

Want fast clean up? For safe and gentle removal useĀ Telesis Super Solv PlusĀ orĀ Telesis Makeup Remover.

Cracking, Bubbling, etc

Due to the high pigment content and lack of unnecessary fillers in the Skin Illustrator color system, cracks, bubbles and any shrunken appearance that may occur in some dried color cells does not affect the quality or performance of the product in any way.
